This Blog, is a very very very fine blog.

So this is the post where I outline what I expect this blog to become. Much like a time capsule, I may find this post funny if I ever go back to read upon it in the future. Some people (if there are any readers beyond my wife) have a tune stuck in your head. You may not be able to figure out exactly what it is. Subliminal mind shenanigans! To ease you mind so you can read on, here's the answer. It's suitable as it is from the same era as the vehicle in which this blog palavers about.

So, the intent of this blog is to keep track of all the things I do to restore my beloved automobile to its former glory. I will also likely use this blog as a notepad for projects along the way. Expect links, or bolt sizes, or bits of wisdom I glean from forums and don't want to forget.

The time between posts should also be addressed. This will not be a daily blog, nor likely will it be updated weekly. I will update as time and money permit me to further my course. Unless I win the lottery, this will be a slow process, but fulfilling.

In short, expect short, useless posts, every once in-a-while. They will likely only be interesting to me, and poorly composed. Also lots of pictures, because they are easier to post than strings of words.

Homecoming

After 11 years of storage in a variety of places, my first love has come home.

On the trailer after 11 years of sitting.

This lovable hunk of steel, rust, rust, and soul is a 1973 Dodge Charger (url correlation anyone?). I have owned this car since the summer of 2000, and drove it until late 2001.

Sunday, June 10th in the year twenty-twelve, I dug this car out from the cobwebs, dirt, and loneliness of the barn it was stored in. I brought it to our new home in Columbia, Ky. My wife was a very good sport about the condition of this big rusty expression of Dodge design.

It is a 1973 Dodge Charger Rallye. It currently has a 318 inside, but I don't remember if its numbers matching. Obvious to some, it came in FY1 with hood blackout and side graphics. I will refer to this color as Lemon Twist Yellow, even though the Dodge name is Top Banana. I can not, and will not refer to my car as this color with a straight face. Who can take this seriously?

After waxing nostalgic for a good while, I helped my wife come to terms with this dearly loved but unaesthetic vehicle by waking her from her feinted state and letting her take pictures.

The first step is to clean the seats and remove the broken glass (details later). Then take an inventory of what I have (it's been years since I've seen the car). Then try and get a game plan together as to what I am going to do to get this once beautiful (still is to me) car back to the jaw dropping, lady killer it once was. For this, I will be searching out and signing up for any mopar, B-body, or charger forums I can hunt down.

Now, mostly for those of us who prefer the taste of crayolas 2 to 1, pictures!
